Projecting your on-premise Active Directory groups into your M365 hosted Exchange
You still need Active Directory even though you have outsourced Exchange to Microsoft via M365. So, how do you manage it? You want your user attributes to be accurate, group memberships up to date, unused groups expired, and security groups to be, well, secure. Oh, and you really don’t want to have your IT department to have to devote scarce resources to make this all happen.
Luckily, Microsoft’s DirSync synchronizes your on premise Active Directory with the hosted M365 directory. So, you can manage those Exchange specific things like distribution groups, delivery restrictions and user attributes for the GAL in your on premise Active Directory and have them synchronized over to M365. At the same time, those same tools allow you to manage your security groups and user accounts on the on premise Active Directory.
Using Imanami’s GroupID, you have the best of both world’s: an accurate Active Directory and a hosted Exchange. And, both solutions are designed to alleviate stress on an already overloaded IT department.
Using GroupID Self Service, you are able to delegate group membership, user attribute changes, and even group creation to end users while the extensive workflows available allow you to keep control within IT.
Using GroupID Automate, you can create dynamic security groups AND dynamic distribution groups. A very intuitive and extensive query designer gives IT the ability to model dynamic groups for every occasion.
And, most importantly, GroupID’s innovate group lifecycle allows you to make sure that you are only keeping the groups that the business still needs, eliminating confusion and security holes.
If you are using M365 or considering it, take GroupID for a spin.
