It's 5pm on Friday and your Exchange Administrator
just realized that the area code for your Houston office is changing
tomorrow. He looks in your Exchange Global Address List and tries
to figure out whose directory information needs to be changed to the
new area code.
There is no easy way. He needs to open each employee's entry to determine
who, exactly, is in Houston and then make the changes manually. After
two hours, he gives up, goes home and tries not to think about the
chaos in store for Monday morning.
Exchange and Active Directory do not provide any reporting tools,
so administrators must scroll through the Global Address List (GAL)
manually, searching for their targets. This means maintaining Exchange
and Active Directory can be time consuming and laborious. All too
often, information is not kept accurate - there just isn't enough
time.

Flexible Reporting Management

Managing groups and distribution lists is a time
consuming task for administrators, that's why we created SmartDL.
Now we bring you an additional tool that lets you easily build informative
reports about your groups and lists. Smart Reports (SmartR) lets you
monitor and report on the objects in your directory, giving you easy
access to important information. SmartR uses the Microsoft XML engine
making it simple to transform reports into different formats such
as HTML, XML and CSV-providing great flexibility. Without SmartR you
may be wondering how many members are in a particular group, who are
the owners of all the groups or even, when a group was last modified.
Having this type of data available is not only helpful but smart,
as you will always stay informed on your directory.
SmartR can be fully integrated with SmartDL or act as a stand alone
product. Within SmartDL, the SmartR icon is activated on the toolbar
enabling easy report creation right from there.
Since SmartR reports from either Exchange server 5.5 or Active Directory
you must have either of the two installed to report from, however
SmartR does not have to be installed on an Exchange server or Active
Directory server. |
