An Active Directory group should only live as long as it is useful to your business. But without any native tools to expire and renew Active Directory groups, administrators turn to the time-honored, “delete it and see who complains” technique. The problem is, then you have to re-create that group, its members and permissions if somebody does complain.
In this chalk-talk, we demonstrate with GroupID how to set a group lifecycle policy, how to expire an Active Directory group, how to renew the Active Directory group bringing its members back, and how the notification process to group owners works. Like the old-fashioned “delete it and they will call” technique, expiring an Active Directory group also breaks it but with a proper Active Directory group lifecycle solution, you now have the ability to renew it so that it is as good as new.
Let us know if you would like a more detailed demonstration of GroupID and its group lifecycle management.
