Active Directory is central to most IT infrastructures. You manage users, computers, groups, contacts, access, authentication, and lunch orders with it. Well, maybe not lunch orders but it wouldn’t be too hard with a good web-based self-service tool, some AD synchronization, and a fax gateway. The problem would eventually be: how do you report on it?
And Active Directory reporting is key. Managing an environment as complex as most AD infrastructures requires IT to know how many users are locked out or have X number of group memberships, how many Active Directory groups have no members or Exchange distribution lists haven’t receive email in 2 months, or how many computers have never logged on to the network or a list of computers by OS. These reports are what allow an IT administrator to know what is going on in their network.
I usually don’t like to “sell” Imanami’s products using this blog, but this one is free so I don’t feel as bad about it. GroupID Reports is an Active Directory reporting tool that allows an IT administrator to report on users, groups and computers. It comes out of the box with 33 standard reports plus the ability to create and save AD reports on any attribute that you can conceive. If it is in Active Directory, GroupID Reports can report on it.
Download your free AD reporting tool and start understanding your network better. If there are reports that you would like to see come standard with the product, leave a description in the comments and we will do our best to have it in the next version.

Hi Edward,
Thanks for this helpful post. Quick Q – is this tool 100% free, or is it a free trial?
If it is 100% free, I would be interested in covering it on my blog on Free Active Directory Tools where I review and share helpful info on free AD tools.
I look forward to hearing from you. By the way, its nice to know that if its in AD, your tool can report on it.
Thanks,
Marc
Marc,
GroupID Reports is absolutely 100% free. I will send you a download link and license key in the morning or you can fill out the convenient form.
Thanks,
Edward
Edward,
Thanks for the post as well as for the free tool!
However, visiting the download link, i’m prompted with 2 choices: Evaluation Request or Current User.
The Evaluation Request seems to be a free trial for 30 days.
The Current User options requires a license key.
Do you know if this product is still 100% free or is it a trial? I see that back in May 2010, you posted it was 100% free – has that changed?
Thanks,
Jim
I see how this gets confusing. We use the same form for the free 30 day evals of our other modules as for the free perpetual license for Reports.
Reports is free, when you fill out the form you will be sent a download link and a perpetual license for it.
Sorry for the confusion, now I have to figure out how to make it more clear 🙂 .
