GroupID Automate allows you to set up a dynamic query using as complex or simple logic as you need to add users to AD Security Groups based on attributes in Active Directory or almost any other data source. For example, if you want anyone that is a Director or above in the Southeast division in sales or marketing to have a specific Sharepoint experience you can create a dynamic AD Security Group that will be comprised of everyone that meets those criteria. If a user in that group changes divisions, they will automatically be taken out of the group. If a new Marketing VP is hired in Georgia, that user will automatically be added to the group. Without IT having to do a thing.
GroupID Self-Service allows IT to grant ownership of security groups to the appropriate user to manage their own membership. If that group owner wants to add a new person to have access, it is as easy as adding the user. If a user wants access to a group, they can opt-in to the group pending a workflow approval by the owner. GroupID Self-Service even works with the dynamic groups mentioned above, allowing the owner to include someone who does not meet the query requirements but still needs to be included, or allow a user to join a dynamic group (again, pending workflow approval).
By managing AD Security Groups with automation and self-service, IT can assure that the groups and access levels will always be up to date, making that investment in Sharepoint even more valuable.

SharePoint Shampoo : WinITPro Exclusive
They say one of the best product usage tips ever invented was three words long: “Lather, rinse, repeat.” That crucial last word not only ensured squeaky clean follicles, it lathered up profits for shampoo companies. But tips for using SharePoint are a tad more complex than “lather, rinse.” |
